Mongolia is organizing “Girls in ICT” for the ninth consecutive year, promoting the participation of girls in the field of Information and Communication Technology. Since 2011, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has observed this day every April to inspire and empower young women to explore opportunities in ICT.
The event “Girls in ICT” was successfully held today (2025.04.30). The event was organized in collaboration with UNICEF, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Communications, the E-Mongolia Academy, the Communications Regulatory Commission, and the Mongolian Children's Council. More than 150 high school girls from general education schools participated in the event.
The event was attended by Yan Mu, Deputy Representative of UNICEF Mongolia; M. Tulgat, Advisor to the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Communications; B. Myagmarnaran, Director of the E-Mongolia Academy; G.Unurtsetseg, Head of the International Relations and Cooperation Department; S. Tseveensuren, Project Manager at the Systems Integration Department; A. Uranchimeg, Head of the Regulatory Implementation Division of the Communications Regulatory Commission (CRC); and B. Oyuundari, General Coordinator of the “Khuurhun Zurkh” NGO, shared valuable insights on opportunities in the technology sector, discussed ways to increase girls’ participation, and provided inspiring and informative messages to the participants.
The participating girls received advice and information on cybersecurity from experts, how to prevent cybercrimes, and ways to protect themselves online. The “Girls in ICT 2025” event aimed to encourage and support girls and young women to pursue careers in information and communication technology, inspire them to make informed career choices, introduce international experiences and real success stories, and increase awareness of digital safety.
