Registration has begun for the new enrollment period of the “Age Benefit” service provided by the Government of Mongolia to ensure social welfare support for senior citizens aged 65 and older.
According to the Law on the Elderly, citizens aged 65 and above receive an annual “Age Benefit” funded by the state budget during the Lunar New Year and the National Naadam Festival and Anniversary of the People’s Revolution. The amount of the benefit and the procedures for granting it are approved by the Government and vary depending on age.
As of 2025, studies indicate that Mongolia has more than 190,000 senior citizens aged 65 and older. The benefit amounts are as follows: ages 65–69, 50,000 MNT, 70–79, 80,000 MNT, 80–89, 150,000 MNT, 90 and above, 250,000 MNT.
The “Age Benefit” allowance has been provided since January 1, 2017. Citizens applying for the benefit for the first time, or those who have not previously received it, may now submit their applications electronically through the E-Mongolia system.
How to Submit an Application for the “Age Benefit” Service:
- Log into the E-Mongolia system using your personal account.
- In the service search section, select the “Age Benefit” service.
- After clicking the “Receive Service” button, a list of required documents will appear. (When applying electronically, there is no need to physically submit these documents.)
- Click “Continue,” then select your commercial bank and enter your personal bank account number in the account information section.
- In the confirmation section, select “Yes” to successfully submit the application and verify your account.
All senior citizens aged 65 and above are eligible for this service. However, citizens who have previously received the “Age Benefit” do not need to reapply, as their information is automatically renewed.
For in-person applications, citizens may visit the social welfare specialist of their district or soum of residence with their national ID card. If a citizen is unable to appear in person, an authorized representative may apply on their behalf by submitting the senior citizen’s identification card and other required documents together with the “Age Benefit” application form.
