Mongolia is transitioning into a new era, with digitalization becoming increasingly accessible and the country advancing to the next stage of development. However, when comparing our progress to the best practices of other nations, it is clear that Mongolia still faces significant challenges in fully integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its systems. This gap presents a major obstacle to progress. To address this issue, the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, the "E-Mongol Academy" state owned enterprise, and the National Information Technology Park organized the “AI Data SUMMIT 2025: Let’s Talk!” open meeting on January 23, 2025, as part of the preparations for the inaugural session to discuss Mongolia’s national big data and AI strategy.
The event was led by B. Bat-Ulzii, Director of the Digital Development Policy Implementation Coordination Department at the Ministry of Digital Development Innovation and Communications; J. Zolzayaa, CEO of the National Information Technology Park; and N. Turbat, Director of the Training and Public Relations Department of the "E-Mongol Academy" state owned enterprise. The forum brought together AI developers, individuals expressing interest, as well as system developers and programmers from 13 organizations, creating an open space for the exchange of ideas and sharing of insights.
During the “AI Data SUMMIT 2025: Let’s Talk!” forum, participants discussed the key challenges facing AI development in Mongolia, strategies to increase and train AI professionals in the tech sector, how to implement international best practices, and the importance of fostering feedback loops. The forum also explored long-term AI strategies for the future. Moving forward, this event will be held monthly, providing an ongoing platform to expand the network of young AI developers and encourage further innovation in Mongolia’s AI landscape.
