The E-Mongolia system offers electronic access to 1,263 services across 87 organizations

During the leadership meeting of senior organizations, “E-Mongolia academy” a state-owned enterprise, provided detailed information on E-Skills to seniors

The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection (MLFSL) and the Mongolian Association of Seniors (MAS) jointly organized a meeting for the management of senior organizations on September 23-24, 2024, in observance of International Day of Older Persons.

During the meeting, relevant organizations presented information on government policies and initatives aimed at providing discounted services for the elderly, promoting employment opportunities for seniors, and highlighting the importance of enhancing their digital skills.

As part of the event, G.Onortsetseg, head of the E-Skills Department at “E-Mongolia Academy” a state-owned enterprise, was invited as a speaker. In accordance with the agreement bewteen the Government of Mongolia and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), she delivered a presentation and provided guidance on a project designed to support the improvement of digital skills among seniors within the framework of the E-Mongolia and E-Government Development Program.

The issue of electronic access and digital skills for elderly citizens is critical and can not be overlooked. The report emphasizes the need to provide training and initiatives aimed at enhancing the digital skills of elderly citizens, ensuring equal access to technological tools and services for all.

While the use of electronic devices is not widespread among seniors, for those elderly individuals who wish to improve their digital skills, it is both essential and beneficial to learn how to independently navigate mobile phone settings, access government services online, and understand how to download and effectively use necessary applications.

Typically, problems related to mobile phones, internet connectivity, and email management are resolved by consulting their children, turning devices on and off, or physically visiting agencies. However, many seniors have expressed a strong interest in receiving training to address these issues and acquire the digital skills they need.

As part of future collaboration with the Mongolian Association of Seniors, special emphasis is being placed on strengthening intersectoral coordination to better support the digital empowerment of elderly citizens.
